We have filled 14 Colorado Soil Health Program participants spots that we were awarded. Thanks to a grant from the Colorado State Conservation Board in 2025 we are able to provide soil testing to producers in our districts.
STAR Plus – Soil Health Program
What is the STAR Plus Program?
The Bookcliff, Mount Sopris and South Side Conservation Districts were approved in 2023 for the STAR Plus program. We can have ten participants across the three districts. The goal with participants is to focus on one field and implement practices to improve the soil health of that field over three years. Technical assistance and financial support will be provided including soil testing and moisture probes.
These practices are based off the 5 Soil Health principles:
- Limit Soil Disturbance
- Strive for Plant Diversity
- Integrate Animals
- Maintain Living Roots
- Keep Soil Covered
